Gabriel Silvas: A Wildcard Week Short

Alpha Belt
Mortal Realm
Venura Residence
2015

After Gabriel Silvas had lost his friends one by one, he swore to himself that he wouldn’t get attached to the first person he got to know.

Of course, Fate wanted to test him – Fate tested everyone, after all. The next thing he knew, Gabriel was delegated as a Watcher. And he had no idea how he came to be at that position. Gritting his teeth, Gabriel accepted the position without daring to say anything against the Creator.

Even with his new duties, he promised that he wouldn’t get attached to whoever his Assignment would be. Attachments were dangerous as proved by the friendships he had fostered. Gabriel told himself that he would only watch over whoever his Assignment would be purely out of mere obligation and responsibility. The last thing he wanted was to get on the Creator’s hit list.

However, upon first peeking into the thirteen-year-old’s mind, Gabriel cursed.

He immediately knew that not getting attached was something that definitely wouldn’t happen.

After the disaster which had caused the termination of his friendships, Gabriel Silvas was intent on creating a new identity for himself. The Forest Original wanted a new beginning, a new start, for everything to restart. After thinking long and hard, he finally decided on a new name.

Loyal as ever to his first name (and strangely attached to the nicknames he had gained over the years), he kept Gabriel as a surname. He personally found it too fitting – after all, in Christian beliefs, one of the top archangels had been named Gabriel.

When it came to his actual name, Gabriel was unable to decide on something for a number of weeks until the hit of epiphany came. A thought came to him while he was sitting on the rooftop, isolating himself from the rest of the group.

Freely Restrained: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

~Gabriel, Miles~

“How do you feel, Aria?”

“Strangely liberated,” she replies. I can’t help but blink in surprise at her answer. “You know – form PTs, tests, quizzes…all that academic stuf,” she defends. “It’s weird. I feel liberated, but…at the same time, I also feel caged.” She steps into her room and I close the door from behind, watching as she unties her hair. “I’m free from the pressures of academics – school and all that – but…now that I’m done, I feel like I’m just being restrained,” she admits.

My forest-green eyes narrow slightly. “How so?”

“I mean, I’m just seventeen days away from graduating, Miles.” Her eyes glance at the screen of her phone. “Seventeen days. I’m just two weeks and three days away from getting my meaningful diploma. Yet, I’m being kept inside just waiting until I’m out of those gates once and for all.”

Aria exhales eventually and moves into the bathroom, mumbling that she’d just change into more comfortable wear. As the door clicks, I sit on her bed and process what she just told me – her own feelings about being freely restrained.

Did it make sense?

Strangely enough, it did. She felt relieved and frustrated, undeniably gleeful to be free of those terror subjects (Calculus) and of any academic endeavor. In truth, all she had to do for the rest of the month was to keep being the Aria she regularly was with the rest of them.

With the rest of the XDees.

Being the same old, Aria, however, felt like being trapped.

Aria couldn’t explain it properly the first time I asked about it. Not at all. She just made articulate hand gestures and frutrated noises, finally admitting that she couldn’t get around it herself.

She couldn’t understand why exactly her actions felt…forced.

Post-Retreat Crash: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

Miles wasn’t quite sure how she had turned out to be that way.

Aria seemed happy (despite her exhaustion) when she came back on Thursday afternoon; his surprise for her had only made her happier. He could still remember the smile on her face and how she had turned redder upon seeing the flowers in her room – he had filled vases with yellow and pink roses. He hid his pricked hand in his pocket, only smiling and embracing her back when she hugged him tightly.

“I missed you, Aria.”

“Hm. I missed you too,” she had told him upon pulling away. Aria took off and took a yellow rose into her hands, staring down at it with a slight hint of a pleased smile. “Yellow and pink?”

“Red is too overrated,” he insisted. Aria proceeded to tell him all about what had happened during her retreat, all from the bus ride to the unlimited milo they had given out all day and night. The way she had excitedly told him about it made him chuckle a bit.

Finally, she told him that she would be going to school the next day – just for the afternoon – so that she could see her club as well as the others in IV-3. Miles seemed apprehensive at the idea at first, wondering why she wanted to see them so soon – but agreed nonetheless.

Friday had passed quickly – Miles stayed back and watched as Aria celebrated with her club mates and reunited with her other friends from the other sections. Diana Alrada had, surprisingly, ran out and hugged her tightly for a few seconds. Bea Mora, on the other hand, told her endlessly about giving the milk to Sir Marion.

Miles managed a small laugh upon catching sight of a wave of brown hair flicker around the area, soon seeing Aria run inside the classroom. Miles had peeked in, seeing Elle Rivers and Aria embracing each other tightly.

Eventually, Friday ended.

All the happiness that had seemed to radiate from her post-retreat suddenly seemed to vanish the next morning, a frown lighting his lips upon seeing her stare blankly at the ceiling.

“Aria?”

Amaryllis: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

Alpha Belt
Silvas Estate, England
1800s

It had been a few years since Mary moved into the Silvas residence in England. Then younger, the dark-haired girl was now of eleven years, sporting hair that reached a little below her shoulders and sporting a crimson red dress.

“Mary!”

The girl blinked at the voice. “…Gabriel?”

On another hand, Gabriel Silvas, thirteen years of age, was taller and sporting a wicked grin on his face. The male, who towered over Mary, had burst into her room with a bang.

“Mary! I know it – I finally know it!” he exclaimed, proudly striking a pose in the middle of her room. The scarlet-eyed child regarded him with a blank stare.

“Know what?”

“Your name!” he told her excitedly. The once confused look on her face turned a little…smug. “Remember when mother and father told me that I’d find out when I turned thirteen? They told me just now!” Gabriel’s face fell, however, and this made Mary frown as well.

“So what’s the deal about it?”

Gabriel mumbled something under his breath.

“What?”

“Bloody – what is it with you French lot?” he asked exasperatedly, sitting next to her on the bed. Mary scooted away a little, but Gabriel didn’t notice at all. “I can pronounce your surname right. Coquelicot.” He said, Mary shaking her head (internally) at how badly he said it. But she didn’t say a word. “But your actual name…”

“Mary,” she replied. “Just call me Mary.” No need to mess up my birth name, she thought exasperatedly, wishing to tell him but not quite having the heart to do so.

“I’m going to call you by your real name,” he told her seriously. “Or I’ll die trying.”

Five Minutes: A Shoujo Parallels AU Short

Alpha Belt
Point of Convergence
2014

“I’m only here because Giselle asked me to do it.” Amy told him bluntly, her scarlet eyes piercing into his. Miles kept his gaze cool, mouth set into a flat line. “And since your assignment knows mine.”

“How long can you resist the urge to kill me, Coquelicot?” the Original asked. Amy sent him an icy look, but Miles’ expression didn’t falter at all. “I just wanted five minutes of your time. Five minutes. And then you can go back to watching Giselle. I’m taking nothing else.”

“Five minutes. Five minutes to fuck it up–”

“I didn’t do it.”

Amy stopped, her expression turning from irritated to shocked. She was so shocked that she couldn’t say anything else. Taking advantage of her silence, Miles continued.

“That night? That event? None of my doing. If I could take you back to that night, I’d do it in a heartbeat just to prove my innocence.” Miles looked away. “I know it’s unbelievable to you. After years of being in pain. I know. I know that–”

The brunette suddenly staggered back, clutching his cheek. Wide-eyed, he looked at Amy, whose scarlet eyes were burning with rage. Her hand was in front of her and she was almost shaking.

“You don’t know anything, Gabriel,” she hissed, but Miles cut her off.

“But I do.” he cringed as he touched the sore area on his cheek and set his hand down eventually, Amy spotting a reddening mark. She felt pleased – internally – at the sight. “I know. Living with pain? It eats you on the inside. It almost reduces you to nothing but an angry shell.” She sent him daggers but he ignored her and went on, “Same with guilt. It’s been eating me up. I can’t take lying anymore, Mary!” he yelled, unable to hold back.

Amy stopped at the usage of that name.

Alone Together: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

Alpha Belt
Venura Residence
September 2014

Miles was asleep.

Arianne watched him from her bed. He had insisted on merely sitting on the chair and they had argued about his comfort, so she ended up leaving and bringing in a comfier chair than the office one she used when at her desk.

Her eyes glanced away and she sighed, wrapping herself in the blue TARDIS blanket and curling up. She didn’t know why Miles did that. She didn’t know why Miles always did that. “I don’t get you,” she muttered to herself, shutting her eyes at the thought.

He mumbled something in his sleep. She cringed slightly and managed to relax, trying to not think of anything else but the dark-haired man who sat only a few feet away from her. When she found herself needing him – craving for someone to rant to than the norm – he would always appear minutes later, green eyes scanning her from head to toe.

Arianne didn’t want to admit that she needed him – not to him, at least. She still wanted to maintain distance from the strange creature who claimed to be there to protect her.

Distance.

She just wanted to protect herself.

It seemed that every time they were going to attack, he would be there to combat them away. And she wasn’t sure if she should be grateful or not.

Miles gave another mumble. She heard him shift in the seat and tried not to look at him again. She didn’t want him to find out that she just faked falling asleep for the sake of making him worry less.
Before she knew it, the tears were coming again.

Better With You: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

Alpha Belt
Venura Residence
August 2014

“Doing okay?”

She sucked in a breath. “Yeah. Okay. Definitely better.” Miles let a small smirk curve his lips upwards; seeing Arianne flustered (despite the gravity of the oncoming situation) amused him. But he couldn’t actually blame her for being fidgety and nervous.

He knew that she had been studying for the past months and wondered how she was able to carry it all – school work, extracurricular work, and then the tutoring. The second Game of Thrones book was left discarded on her bed. She had promised to read it when she had time, but she hadn’t even peeked at the backmost portion which contained the lineage of various characters.

“–and I honestly don’t know what I’d do if I failed the exam,” she flustered. Miles blinked and looked at her. Arianne was pacing, eyes lit with fear as she walked back and forth across her room. She pivoted on a heel and turned, walking to the door, to the window and back. “I just want it over with. As soon as possible. I don’t even know why I was put in the last batch,” she groaned.

Miles quirked a dark eyebrow. “Perhaps you’re worrying too much. It might be a sign.”

“A sign?”

“That an extra day is being given so you can calm your nerves.” He stood up and walked to her, gently pushing her back to her own bed. “Please do calm down. Write. Read. Do what you want and don’t think of the exam just yet. You’ve prepared enough,” Hopefully, he added in his head, “And remember what Sir Andrej said. Just relax.”

When she still didn’t look sure of herself, he pursed his lips and sat next to her. “You’re one of the most intellectually stimulating I know, Venura. A different kind of intellect,” he added. She looked befuddled. “You see things. You understand them. You apply it. If you believe you’re not intelligent at all, then I might have to shake some sense into you,” he joked.

But she still looked hesitant to accept all of that.

He knew that she was still thinking.

Switched: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

*~The Beta Belt~*

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”

“You keep swearing, Venura.” Mathias grumbled as he folded his arms over his chest. “I know there’s nothing wrong with it, but we might have to put a quota per week.” This made the short-haired girl stare back, her eyes wide with confusion and maybe a little bit of irritation.

“Mathias, you know I don’t swear as much anymore.”

“I had no idea it was April First,” the ginger mumbled. Speaking louder, he went on, “What’s wrong with me, anyway? I don’t feel weird at all.”

He usually appeared to her in the afternoons, and it stayed that way. They formed a schedule together – Mathias would work at Technika then come to her during the afternoons, then go back during the evenings. This would give Arzen time to do what she needed – school and whatnot – eventually finishing up by the time he would arrive.

But he…he had been there since she woke up.

“Did you and Eri get into a fight?”

“Eri’s perfectly fine.”

What a lie, she thought, but persisted.

“You’re not going according to schedule,” she hesitated, “…did something happen there?”

“Nothing happened, I promise. Calm down, Venura.” He cracked a smile.

Arzen couldn’t return it. He just felt so…

So un Mathias-like.

Miles Gabriel: A Shoujo Parallels Headcanon Short

It was a peculiar voice who existed inside her head.

It started during her second year. She was taking a Statistics final when she had stumbled upon the next section and started to panic, the numbers and equations overwhelming her. She couldn’t tell which one to use, which one to match with the other – and she wanted to yell.

Fear unnerved her and numbed her other senses. The pencil in her hand remained limp. Her muscles refused to work and she swore she felt herself shaking.

The numbers weren’t making sense at all.

It seemed like hours’ worth of practice and tears went all to that: to nothing. She felt like crying. She didn’t want a failing grade, not again. It was the damned final and she had to at least get a 90 to maintain her average of not below 85 in the card.

It was a simple exercise, really. She had to match items from column A with that of column B.
A few of her other classmates had already finished the test, and she felt like banging her head on the table over and over just to remember the process, the way and get to the right answer.

‘Didn’t you study?’

It sounded so amused that she wanted to laugh herself.

“Of course I did,” she grumbled. No one else heard – their proctor merely remained inside the classroom, sitting on a chair and reading a book. The person in front of her was too immersed to even notice, and the one behind was fast asleep. “It’s…it’s stupid. I’m stupid. God. I studied for this last night and I can’t even…”

‘Relax.’

“Relax?”

‘And don’t talk so loudly, it told her. People will notice.’

A little flustered, she decided to talk to the random voice.

This is sad. I’m talking to myself, pretending that the random voice is actually someone else –

‘Excuse you.’

She nearly jumped in her seat, startled at the sudden interference.

Just relax. Follow me.’

At the end of the exam, she turned in a completely-answered paper.
